My story

[p]As some of you visiting this page might know I like to run, am based in South London and for the past year have been a member of Clapham Pioneers. This has meant I have spent a lot of my time running around Clapham Common and the surrounding streets. [/p][p]Somehow I was lucky enough to get a ballot place in the London Marathon this year (eekk!) and have decided to run for an incredible local charity, based in Clapham Common, called Ace of Clubs. (Keep reading below!!!)[/p][vmgvideo class="ql-video" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="true" src="https://player.vimeo.com/video/46227026/"][/vmgvideo][p][br][/p][p]I first came across their work through a photographer called James Hopkirk, who brought to life Mark’s story http://www.southlondonstories.com/mark, which really touched me and felt it brought to life the importance of their work. [/p][p]So who are Ace of Clubs? [/p][p]The charity 'is a family-like community providing transformative support for those who are homeless, vulnerable and otherwise marginalised in and around the local area of Clapham'.[/p][p]At the centre they provide for the immediate needs of those in desperate circumstances with safe shelter, food, warmth, clothing, laundry and showers.[/p][p]They help on average between 80 to 100 people per day and just last year they provided over 20,000 meals, welcomed over 1000 people through the door, helped over 100 people off the streets and into accommodation and supported 36 people into rehabilitation from addiction.[/p][p]Their work is based on the foundation of genuine care and building of relationships with people. ‘It is a place where those who are alone can find acceptance, a sense of belonging and renewed purpose to see their lives restored.'[/p][p]Anything you can donate to my marathon challenge would be incredible and here are just a few examples of what difference your donation can make: [/p][p]£10 buys 10 Ace dinners[/p][p]£20 buys 40 pairs of socks[/p][p]£50 buys heating for a week[/p][p]£100 buys food for a week[/p][p][br][/p]
