My story

[lt]p style="margin: 0.833em 0px; padding: 0px; font-size: 13px; line-height: 15.5519990921021px;"[gt]On 26 October 2014, the ‘Bee Team’ will be working with forest communities at Farm Africa’s project in the Nou Forest, Tanzania. Your support is very much appreciated, as together the team is aiming to raise £50,000 for Farm Africa.[/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0.833em 0px; padding: 0px; font-size: 13px; line-height: 15.5519990921021px;"[gt]Under the close supervision of local carpenters, the group will work in the forest to build, wax and deliver the beehives. This is an intense challenge as the team work long hours to ensure the hives are ready in just three days.[/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0.833em 0px; padding: 0px; font-size: 13px; line-height: 15.5519990921021px;"[gt]Every year 300,000 hectares of forest are lost in Tanzania - about 10 times the size of the Isle of Wight. You might ask how building beehives will change this but they are a vital part of this highly successful project.[/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0.833em 0px; padding: 0px; font-size: 13px; line-height: 15.5519990921021px;"[gt]Poverty is the main driver of deforestation, so Farm Africa’s project is designed to show the local community how they can build businesses from sustainable forest products like honey and mushrooms. As forest farmers begin to understand how important the forest is for their future survival, they act as forest guardians, constantly on the lookout for anything that threatens it. This delivers better futures for some of the most vulnerable people in Tanzania whilst restoring the country’s valuable forest reserves.[/p][lt]p style="margin: 0.833em 0px; padding: 0px; font-size: 13px; line-height: 15.5519990921021px;"[gt][span=line-height: 15.5519990921021px;]To find out more about this fantastic challenge and Farm Africa’s work please visit our event webpage. [/span][/p][lt]p style="margin: 0.833em 0px; padding: 0px; font-size: 13px; line-height: 15.5519990921021px;"[gt]You can sponsor individual members of the team by clicking on their name below or alternatively you can make a donation to the group by clicking on the 'donate now' button below:[/p][lt]p style="margin: 0.833em 0px; padding: 0px; font-size: 13px; line-height: 15.5519990921021px;"[gt]Adam Bedford[/p][lt]p style="margin: 0.833em 0px; padding: 0px; font-size: 13px; line-height: 15.5519990921021px;"[gt]Ally Hunter Blair[/p][lt]p style="margin: 0.833em 0px; padding: 0px; font-size: 13px; line-height: 15.5519990921021px;"[gt]Caroline Stocks[/p][lt]p style="margin: 0.833em 0px; padding: 0px; font-size: 13px; line-height: 15.5519990921021px;"[gt]Emma Dennis[/p][lt]p style="margin: 0.833em 0px; padding: 0px; font-size: 13px; line-height: 15.5519990921021px;"[gt]Matthew Naylor[/p][lt]p style="margin: 0.833em 0px; padding: 0px; font-size: 13px; line-height: 15.5519990921021px;"[gt]Simone Pickering[/p][lt]p style="margin: 0.833em 0px; padding: 0px; font-size: 13px; line-height: 15.5519990921021px;"[gt]Tom Hughes[/p][lt]p style="margin: 0.833em 0px; padding: 0px; font-size: 13px; line-height: 15.5519990921021px;"[gt]Thank you for your support[/p]

Well done guys - so sorry I couldn't join you in Africa - I just couldn't make the time after IFAJ this year. I'm sure you'll remember it all your days, as will the small community you helped. Well done, Jane x
