My story

[p]I am a local Winchester runner and this year I am proud to be Winchester Churches Nightshelter’s runner in the London marathon. [/p][p]I am attempting to break the world record for running it in a sleeping bag![/p][p]In order to achieve this, I need to beat 3hrs 44 minutes and 1 second. [/p][p]keep up to date on: #MoreThanASleepingBag[/p][p]see how my training is going here:[/p][p]www.MoreThanASleepingBag.wordpress.com[/p][p]Winchester Churches Nightshelter is a local homelessness charity providing emergency accommodation, food and wide-ranging support services to homeless people from across Hampshire.[/p][p]The Nightshelter is open 365 days a year and offers much more than just a bed for the night: residents can access a safe and caring temporary home, as well as specialist support to restore self-esteem, develop skills, and support them back into long-term accommodation and independent living. The aim of the Nightshelter is to enable people to rebuild their lives and escape homelessness for good. [/p][p]The Nightshelter has an established wellbeing programme and, where possible, encourages residents to improve their physical health through fitness activities and helping to build self-confidence and self esteem. The campaign will aim to form a link between the Winchester Parkrun and the Nightshelter. The Parkrun offers a supportive and inclusive atmosphere, where runners of any ability are encouraged to join in, have fun and feel good about getting out to run.[/p][p]Please give generously for the Nightshelter. This sight sounds almost worth travelling back to Winchester parkrun for! It's a great cause that you're raising for. Me and Isobel used to help at the Winchester nightshelter when we lived there too.

Hope for a cold day with no rain! Good luck with this but I am not going to be happy if I am beaten by a guy in a sleeping bag!

I'd expect nothing less from you, Ben when it comes to this wacky fundraising idea for what is a marvellous charity. And, I'll expect nothing less than to see that record completely smashed, so no pressure! BTW discreet air vents are the way to go!
