My story

[p]My name is Simon Coates, and between 1st March 2021 and 31st October 2021 I will be undertaking the challenge to hike 2000 miles (an average of 250 miles per month) in aid of 16 charities whose work is close to my heart. I am aiming to raise at least £1000 for each of the charities I am supporting, and these funds will make a real difference in enabling the charities to continue their work and survive the extremely challenging times we find ourselves in.[/p][p]You can find out more about the challenge and keep track of how I am getting on on my website (www.charityhikes.org.uk), by joining the challenge Facebook group (www.facebook.com/groups/ukcharityhikes) or by following me on Twitter (www.twitter.com/charityhikes).[/p][p]Berkshire Maestros[/p][p]Berkshire Maestros is a charitable trust providing music education opportunities to children and young people across Berkshire. Their mission statement ‘teaching music, changing lives’ is at the heart of what we do, inspiring and motivating young people to enjoy making music. Working in partnership with parents, local authorities, schools and the local community, Maestros aims to provide a high quality, comprehensive musical experience to the widest group of pupils, regardless of their background, ability or financial circumstances.[/p][p]Through their passion for music making, creativity, expertise and excellence, they aim to deliver the highest quality musical education to meet the aspirations and needs of every child, young musician, school and music leader in Berkshire. They aim to inspire and empower their young musicians and create life-enhancing, enjoyable and sustainable musical opportunities through providing first access and coherent, progressive pathways and enable their community to achieve their potential, develop and celebrate through music. They will consistently fulfil their promise of ‘Teaching Music, Changing Lives’ through delivering outstanding value, continuous innovation and exceptional quality - they will bring the best to everyone we reach.[/p][p]You can donate to this campaign in aid of Berkshire Maestros between 25th February 2021 and 31st January 2022, and anything you can donate will give invaluable support to allow the charity to continue their work.[/p][p]If you would prefer to send a cheque to the charity, you can write to them at the following address - please do include a cover note telling them your donation is as a result of my hiking challenge:[/p][p]Berkshire Maestros, Stoneham Court, 100 Cockney Hill, Reading, RG30 4EZ[/p]
