My story

[p]So in November 2017 my ridiculously inspirational aunt asked me if I fancied running the London marathon for the charity she works for, Ashiana Sheffield. I of course said no and left it at that..... but if anyone knows my "Aunty Rach" you know that she will never give up..... [/p][p]So here I am running the London marathon for Ashiana Sheffield.[/p][p]Ashiana is a charity that is very close to my heart. They do incredible work for some of the most vulnerable women in our society. They work tirelessly to support and empower those from Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic and Refugee (BAMER) communities, whose lives have been affected by violence and abuse, and help them to take back control of their lives and move forward into healthy, stable and safe futures.[/p][p]They assist women who have experienced[/p][p]*Domestic abuse[/p][p]*Physical abuse[/p][p]*Sexual harassment and abuse[/p][p]*Emotional and verbal abuse [/p][p]*Financial abuse[/p][p]*Forced marriage[/p][p]*Honour based violence[/p][p]*Female genital mutilation[/p][p]*Human trafficking [/p][p]*Child exploitation [/p][p]So basically the most unimaginable cruelty possible. In my job I see first hand the difference that organisations like Ashiana can and do make - they stop women from falling through the gaps and facing further exploitation but more than that they give them their lives back. [/p][p]We live in a scary world and sometimes it is easier to cover our eyes to the horrors, I know that there are days I would like to if I could, but Ashiana stand up and keep fighting and I want to do everything I can to raise as much money for them as possible.[/p][p]I am not doing this because I want to run a marathon (because quite frankly I don't) I am doing this because hopefully the idea of me and my dodgy hips running 26.2 miles is enough to get you to dig deep and raise a massive amount of money. [/p][p]I would really appreciate any donation large or small....and whilst I hate asking for money I am going to have no shame over the next few months so be prepared for constant requests....it is easier just to donate now really :)[/p][p]Oh and if you want to find out more about the amazing work that Ashiana Sheffield do you can find it here: http://www.ashianasheffield.org/[/p][p]Lots of love[/p][p][br][/p][p]Beth xxxx[/p][p]#melondoesthemarathon[/p]
