Team story

[p]Ella and Bex are running the London Marathon in April 2019 in support of the charity Baby Lifeline![/p][p]Baby Lifeline is a national charity set up to support pregnant women and new born babies in the UK. They raise funds to provide lifesaving maternity equipment and training to maternity healthcare professionals. Every day, on average 15 babies are still born or pass away in the first 4 weeks of their life - around 76-79% of these could be preventable. Statistics also show that on average, one mother every day will die due to complications during child birth.[/p][p]A little bit about us...[/p][p]Ella and Bex became close friends 4 years ago while Bex was a physio at Wasps Rugby and worked with Ella's husband, Nathan Hughes, who played at the club. Following Ella's second child, about a year ago, Bex helped Ella recover from child birth and the physical conditions that mothers face postpartum. This included running together, which resulted in a mutual enjoyment in racking up the miles. The motivation grew and the next big challenge was proposed, having never done one before... would we like to run the London marathon for Baby Lifeline?....[/p][p]Bex, is currently a physio at Scarlets Rugby, based in South Wales. She loves her work and has always had a passion for helping others through her "healing hands". Bex came across Baby Lifeline when she met Judy (Founder of Baby Lifeline) when she was one of her own physiotherapy patients. Judy, very modestly, opened her eyes to all the great work of the charity, which is particularly close to Bex's heart as she is an identical twin, born premature herself. If it wasn't for the amazing work of charities like Baby Lifeline, her twin sister may not have made it through those early new born weeks.[/p][p]Ella is a full-time mother of a 3 year old boy and an 11 month old girl, while attempting to complete a degree as a part time student at Coventry University. Although both pregnancies were without complications, Ella is passionate about supporting mothers during their pregnancy and the health of their baby after birth from a holistic approach. Baby Lifeline provides training around this contentious view, which from Ella's experience, is needed within the maternity sector. Her husband, Nathan Hughes is a current Ambassador for Baby Lifeline, supporting the cause from a fathers role during pregnancy, an important aspect sometimes overlooked.[/p][p]Follow our journey to the London Marathon and please help us raise money for this great cause![/p]
