Team story

Hello, thanks for visiting our page. We need all the help we can get!

In a cautionary tale of what happens when four friends agree it would be good to get some fresh air and do something worthwhile, Catherine, Amanda, Rachel and Caroline have put sense to one side and registered to take part in Trailwalker UK 2011.

In a mere 30 hours, this event will involve more exercise than most of us have had in the past five years, as we hike 100km, through day and night, across the South Downs to Brighton. This should certainly kick into touch any thoughts that we could be doing more in pursuit of fitness. More importantly, Trailwalker is a chance for us, through your support, to raise much needed money for Oxfam and the Ghurkas.

Just to give you an idea of where your money will be going to:

£10 gives a farmer equipement like hoes, rakes, gloves or chicken wire, so they can harvest their crops, feed their families and earn a living.

£20 buys a family hygiene kit. When disaster hits, disease can spread fast. These kits contain essential items like soap, a bucket and cotton wool. Simple stuff that can help save lives.

£50 gives an ex-Gurkha a pension. The Gurkha Welfare Trust provides welfare pensions for over 10,000 ex-Gurkhas or their widows. £50 is the equivalent of two months' payments.

Please dig deep and sponsor us as much as you feel able, as both these organisations are deeply deserving of your help.

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
