Team story

[p]So, it started with me (Sam) deciding to run the Birmingham Half Marathon on 14th October 2018 to raise much needed funds for the Warwickshire & Solihull Blood Bikes (WSBB). WSBB is an organisation that as a biker I am passionate about helping with fundraising and over the years with local bike groups have raised several thousand pounds.[/p][p]After a brief chat with fellow biker 'Dougster' (Dougie Plant) I managed to persuade him into joining me and so we launched our fundraising campaign at Rugby Bike Fest on 20th May (photo above). That's me carrying Dougie as a pillion (only time it'll ever happen) surrounded by WSBB volunteers (from L-R) Mark Lavery (Chairman), TBA, Don O'Brien (Treasurer), TBA and finally George![/p][p]Rumour has it that another ex-runner Dean Smith has also been cajoled into joining us and whilst the Rugby football season has now closed he'll be hitting the streets in training......well he had better be![/p][p]NEWSFLASH 24.05.2018[/p][p]Another local dancer, Loraine Davies has also joined the Blood Runners and this will also be her first half marathon. It's shaping up to be a good day out![/p][p]UPDATE 27.09.2018[/p][p]Sadly two of our team members are now out due to injury, so it's now down to Dougie and Sam to run for this fantastic charity. We recently received a donation of over £100 from members of Two Wheels Tuesday (see photo below) which has helped boost the sum raised to nearly £1000, but we are still falling shortly of our £2,000 target. Any donation you can offer will be really appreciated.[/p][p][br][/p][p]ABOUT WSBB[/p][p]Warwickshire & Solihull Blood Bikes are a team of 80 volunteer riders and drivers who are dedicated to providing a weekday out of hours service and 24/7 weekend and bank holiday cover supporting the NHS in transporting essential Plasma, Tissue Samples, Spinal fluids, X-Rays, Licensed drugs and any other products than can be carried safely on a motorcycle to hospitals throughout the Warwickshire & Solihull area.
