Team story

[p]A team of 4 Emergency 999 workers, attempting to swim the Channel from Dover to Cap Gris Nez in France for 4 different charities. A straight line distance of 21 Miles, however; Add in the changing tides, 600+ shipping vessels, a few thousand jelly fish, water temperatures from 14 degrees and all done wearing only a standard swimming costume, a hat and goggles.[/p][p]What could possibly go wrong!....[/p][p][br][/p][p]Hi, My name is Simon I have always enjoyed a challenge and whilst walking up to view sunrise, over Mt Everest last year at 17800 ft, I thought to myself? [/p][p] "What's next"....[/p][p]They say that in swimming terms, swimming the English Channel is the equivalent of climbing Mt Everest. All in all it's a demanding physical & mental challenge of swimming a distance of 21 miles or 33km's. That of course is in a straight line but add in the changing tides, in cold water without wearing a wetsuit and this will be a lot further!![/p][p]So, to help me complete this challenge, I managed to convince 3 other likeminded, slightly unbalanced individuals to join me in this adventure and together we wish to raise money for 4 separate charities. My chosen charity is the British Heart Foundation. Caroline’s Charity is Motor Neurons Disease. Andy’s is Parkingson’s Disease and Ian’s chosen charity is for Brian House Children’s Hospice.[/p][p]So, join us by liking our page and follow us on our, yes I agree with you, crazy challenge as we train in local pools & open water venues to the sea's around Britain to try to raise as much as we can for our chosen charities.[/p][p]Follow is on Facebook #BluelightBathers as see our individual stories on why we are doing this.[/p][p]Any contribution will make an impact, whether you donate a little or a lot. Anything helps. Thank you .....[/p]
