Team story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting our fundraising page.[/p][p]We have now completed the Challenge. Please feel free to donate still and see our [span=text-decoration: underline;]Update - Tue 15th July 2014 - 3 days after Challenge[/span] a little bit further down this page.[/p][p]We are a group of friends from a village on the outskirts of Salford, called Boothstown. Some of us have known each other since we were 4 years old and now; as we approach the ripe old age of 40, we are really excited about completing this challenge together.[/p][p]The Boothstown Boys are....[lt]br /[gt]Tony Grindley[lt]br /[gt]Dave Edmondson[lt]br /[gt]Joe Steed[lt]br /[gt]Paul Nuttall[lt]br /[gt]Andrew Barlow[lt]br /[gt]James Shahhet[lt]br /[gt]Steve Devlin[lt]br /[gt]Daniel Rogers[lt]br /[gt]Marcus Partington[lt]br /[gt]Gary Glewis[lt]br /[gt]Harry Steed[/p][p][span=text-decoration: underline;]The Challenge[/span][/p][p]The National 3 Peaks Challenge involves climbing the 3 highest peaks in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike) and Wales (Snowdon).[lt]br /[gt]The 24 hour challenge will start in Scotland on Friday the 11th of July and this is our expected schedule.[/p][p]6am   Start Ben Nevis[lt]br /[gt]11am Finish Ben Nevis and start drive to Scafell Pike  [lt]br /[gt]5pm   Arrive and start climbing Scafell Pike [lt]br /[gt]9pm   Finish Scafell Pike and start drive to Snowdon [lt]br /[gt]2am   Arrive and start climbing Snowdon  [lt]br /[gt]6am   Finish Snowdon, and complete challenge[/p][p][span=text-decoration: underline;]Charities[/span][/p][p]We have chosen 3 Charities; St Anns Hospice, Cancer Research UK and The Steve Prescott Foundation. All monies raised will be shared equally between the 3 Charities. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p][p][span=text-decoration: underline;]Update - Tue 15th July 2014 - 3 days after Challenge[/span][/p][p]Firstly, we are all back home safe and sound.[lt]br /[gt]Secondly, we are pleased to say we completed the challenge within the 24 hour target. [lt]br /[gt]We all feel so proud of our achievement.[lt]br /[gt]We had such an amazing time; the hotels, the walking, the weather, the laughs, the tears, the champagne.[lt]br /[gt] [lt]br /[gt]Best of all, was the satisfaction that we organised and completed it as a group of friends. Everyone chipped in and played their part. The Boothstown Boys did good.[lt]br /[gt] [lt]br /[gt][span=text-decoration: underline;]Donations[/span][lt]br /[gt]Needless to say we are overwhelmed by the amount of money that we have raised for our Charities and we REALLY appreciate your donations and messages of support.[/p][p][span=text-decoration: underline;]Offline Donations[lt]br /[gt][/span]£200 Shop Direct – Helping Hand scheme (Daniel Rogers)[lt]br /[gt]£99 NG Bailey Ltd (Paul Nuttall)[/p][lt]address[gt]We'd like to share our diary...[lt]/address[gt][p]Thursday 10th July - Boothstown (England)[lt]br /[gt]11:00 The trip up to Scotland got off to a shaky start, with a 2 hour wait for one of the the hire cars to be fixed. Luckily we had met at the local pub, so there was chance for some last minute refreshments.[/p][p]Friday 11th July - Ben Nevis (Scotland)[lt]br /[gt]07:45 At the revised start time, the Boothstown Boys set off to climb Ben Nevis. The weather is ideal and the Boys are keen to get off to a good start. The pace is quick and soon we are all enjoying some amazing views of the Grampian Mountains. For many it's the first time on 'The Ben' and the shear size is beginning to hit home. [lt]br /[gt]09:45 The first of the walkers are at the highest point in the United Kingdon, 1344m high. Relief and excitement sets in.[lt]br /[gt]11:15 It's also a fast pace down and the Boys are back to the start and enjoying a cool down in the river.[lt]br /[gt]12:15 We start the 255 mile drive to Scafell in the Lake District; fuelled by McDonalds.[/p][p]Friday 11th July - Scafell (England)[lt]br /[gt]18:15 The unforgiving ascent of the 2nd Peak is under way and aches and pains are beginning to take their toll. It's a warm and clear evening and perfect for an evening stroll.[lt]br /[gt]21:08 Peak number 2 done. 1 to go.[lt]br /[gt]21:45 The 217 mile drive to Wales has started. The winding and undulating roads are just as challenging as the walking.[/p][p]Saturday 12th July - Snowdon (Wales)[lt]br /[gt]02:23 Head torches fully charged, the Boothstown Boys set off together for the final ascent. We are soon above the low cloud and we have the Pyg Track to ourselves.[lt]br /[gt]04:10 We are at the top and are treated to a Super Moon to the West; and the Sunrise to the East. Breath-taking !![lt]br /[gt]05:22 It's a sprint/limp/hobble finish; and the sense of relief as the Boys begin to cross the finish line is apparent.[/p][p]Timings[lt]br /[gt]The challenge was to complete in 24 hours.[lt]br /[gt]The completion times were between 21 hours 37 mins and 22 hours 45 mins.[/p][p]Photos[lt]br /[gt]We have uploaded some photos\selfies for you to enjoy.[lt]br /[gt] [/p]
