<h2><span style="color: #000000;">The Ocean to City Race</span></h2> <p><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 11px;"><a title="Borth Rowing Club website" href="http://www.borth-rowing-club.org.uk" target="_blank">Borth Rowing Club</a> are sending two teams to participate in the <a title="http://oceantocity.com" href="http://oceantocity.com" target="_blank">Ocean to City</a> race. The race is 15 nautical miles, which will take over two hours of hard rowing. <br /></span></p> <p><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 11px;">It begins in<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span><strong>Crosshaven</strong>, then out to the mouth of<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span><strong>Cork Harbour</strong>,<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span><strong>Roches Point</strong>, (boats that are suited to Ocean rowing will be going to Roches Point this year if weather conditions are favourable) back into the<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span><strong>Harbour</strong><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>and down the long straight to<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span><strong>Cobh</strong>, passing in front of the quays. It continues on past<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span><strong>Monkstown</strong><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>and on to<strong>Passage West</strong><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>before entering<span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span><strong>Lough Mahon</strong><span class="Apple-converted-space">&nbsp;</span>(where the wheat is separated from the chaff). This wide expanse of water is the toughest stage, as there is nearly always a strong cross wind.</span></p> <h1><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 11px;"><span style="color: #000000;">Borth Rowing Club Supporting the RNLI</span><br /></span></h1> <p>In 2010 <a title="Borth Rowing Club website" href="http://www.borth-rowing-club.org.uk/" target="_blank">Borth Rowing Club</a> raised over &pound;800 for <a title="MIND webside" href="http://www.mind.org.uk/" target="_blank">MIND </a>- the mental health charity. This year we have chosen to support the <a title="RNLI Website" href="http://www.rnli.org.uk/" target="_blank">RNLI</a>, which is the charity that saves lives at sea. Several members of the Rowing Club are also volunteer lifeboat crew at the <a title="Borth lifeboat station website" href="http://www.borthlifeboat.org.uk/" target="_blank">RNLI Borth lifeboat station</a>.</p> <p><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #333333; font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 11px;">The </span>inshore lifeboat crew wear a drysuit (with yellow wellies attached), lifejackets and helmet. Optional items include gloves and woolly bears (thermal undersuits) for colder weather. We want to raise enough money to buy some kit for a new crew member. The cost of a full inshore crew members kit is &pound;805, which is why we have chosen that target,</p> <h3><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #000066; font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 12px; text-align: left;"> </span></h3> <h3 style="margin: 0px 10px 6px 0px; padding: 0px; font-size: 12px; font-weight: bold;">Inshore crew kit</h3> <p><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #000066; font-family: Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-size: 12px; text-align: left;"> </span></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <table border="0" cellspacing="0" frame="VOID" rules="NONE"> <colgroup><col width="86"></col><col width="86"></col><col width="86"></col></colgroup> <tbody> <tr> <td width="86" height="17" align="LEFT"><strong><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">Gloves</span></strong></td> <td width="86" align="RIGHT"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">&pound;16.00</span></td> <td width="86" align="RIGHT"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">&euro;18.00</span></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="17" align="LEFT"><strong><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">Drysuit</span></strong></td> <td align="RIGHT"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">&pound;319.00</span></td> <td align="RIGHT"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">&euro;352.00</span></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="17" align="LEFT"><strong><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">Thermal suit</span></strong></td> <td align="RIGHT"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">&pound;82.00</span></td> <td align="RIGHT"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">&euro;90.00</span></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="17" align="LEFT"><strong><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">Safety helmet</span></strong></td> <td align="RIGHT"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">&pound;166.00</span></td> <td align="RIGHT"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">&euro;183.00</span></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="17" align="LEFT"><strong><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">Lifejacket</span></strong></td> <td align="RIGHT"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">&pound;222.00</span></td> <td align="RIGHT"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">&euro;245.00</span></td> </tr> <tr> <td height="17" align="LEFT"><br /></td> <td align="RIGHT">&pound;805.00</td> <td align="RIGHT">&euro;888.00</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> <p>Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.
