My story

[p]In January 2019 I was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer that had spread to my Liver. [/p][p]At first it was a huge shock and it felt like my world had ended. [/p][p]After much reflextion and support from my family and friends - I soon realsised that I was going to fight this with a positive attitude. I almost felt a sense of responsibility.[/p][p]This responsibility was to raise awareness around Bowel Cancer, especially in young people. If I look at how my story developed I could have quite easily avoided the warning signs and for a period of 3/4 months I did. If it wasn’t for me passing blood in my stool - I could be sat here now none the wiser![/p][p]If you are experiencing any symptoms, please go to see your GP and follow through on any tests they recommend. It could save your life![/p][p]As it stands I am currently awaiting a date for my liver operation. I had undergone some chemotherapy treatment, however due to serious side effects (heart spasms) this had to be stopped. I then perforated my bowel have a stent fitted which led to Sepsis. Slowly on the mend after a 4 week stay in hospital. [/p][p]I am still smiling and can’t wait for this Bowel Cancer Awareness game/event on Sunday 19th May 6pm at Prenton Park. The game is being played in aid of two local charities UTS Foundation and The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity. Both of which are doing amazing work around cancer patients and treatment. [/p][p]The evening event is going to be fun filled and hopefully there will be some big announcements in the forthcoming weeks.[/p][p]Hopefully you can make the event, but if you can’t and still wish to support this event - please kindly donate on this page.[/p][p]1 in 2 of us will get Cancer at some point in our live, therefore the money raised will go to good use! [/p][p]Thanks for listening.[/p][p]DDB x[/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p]
