My story

[p]Thanks for visiting my page.  I am running the half marathon in aid of a cause that has probably touched most of us either directly or indirectly.  [/p][p]BeatBullying works with children and young people across the UK to stop bullying. They empower young people so deeply affected by bullying that they can barely face going to school each day.  They help young people to support each other and help bullies to change their attitudes and behaviour through their ground-breaking programmes CyberMentors and MiniMentors.[/p][p]BeatBullying's 2011 Highlights include:[/p][p]- 851,583 mentoring interactions on cybermentors.org.uk, with schools who had the CyberMentors programme reporting a 40% reduction in bullying[/p][p]- 530 5-11 year olds trained as MiniMentors, leading to improved school climates and a reduction in bullying.[/p][p]- 38,593 hours donated by online volunteers, adding up to an incredible £234,643 of in-kind support.[/p][p]What can your money do?[/p][p]- £22 could pay for one of BB's emergency online counsellors to reach out to a suicidal child before it's too late.[/p][p] [/p][p]- £90 could pay for a seriously bullied child to complete a series of contracted counselling sessions with a BeatBullying counsellor, helping them to overcome eating disorders, depression and reducing suicidal thoughts.[/p][p]- £1500 could pay for BeatBullying to visit a school, identify and work with those that are being bullied and work with those that bully to change behaviour.  This reduces violence, exclusions and bullying by up to 80%.[/p][p]I appreciate any support that you can give to me for this very worthy cause.[/p][p]Thanks![/p][p]Brenda[/p][p][span=color: #888888; font-size: x-small;][lt]br /[gt][/span][/p][p] [/p]
