Team story

[p]Update: 10th June.[/p][p]We did it! It was tough, it was hilly, it was hot, it was hilly, it was a long way, it was hilly, but five of us made it to the finish! Sadly, Nigel and Julian had to stop at 13 and 33 miles respectively on medical advice but were there at the end for final support up the hill to the Tower.[/p][p]We are overwhelmed by people's generosity - thank you so much! It makes the aching limbs and tiredness worthwhile.[/p][p]Thank you![/p][p][br][/p][p]Hello![/p][p]The seven of us, Geoff Shaw, David Ramdhian, Andy Grelak, Nigel Smith, Julian Lloyd, Wojtek Jurowicz and Rich Calcutt are taking on Race to the Tower, a 53 mile ultra marathon through the Cotswolds on Saturday June 9th 2018 finishing at Broadway Tower. Along the way we are raising funds for Breast Cancer Now. All and any donations will be gratefully received - we are under no illusion as to how tough running 53 miles in one go is going to be but knowing that the funds raised for Breast Cancer Now will help loved ones now and in the future will drive us on.[/p][p]Thanks![/p][p]Geoff, David, Andy, Nige, Jules, Wojtek, Rich[/p][p]About breast cancer.[/p][p]Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK. Every year around 11,500 women and 80 men die from breast cancer – that’s nearly 1,000 deaths each month. Thanks to research, more people are surviving breast cancer than ever before. More than 80% of women with breast cancer are still alive five years after diagnosis but around 50,000 women are still diagnosed with breast cancer each year.[/p][p]Breast Cancer Now have the ambition that by funding targeted research, by 2050 everyone diagnosed with breast cancer will live.[/p][p]Thank you for donating and helping this ambition to be met. It is much appreciated![/p]
