My story

[p]I'm running the North London Half Marathon in March for the RSPCA and Young Epilepsy. Any donations would be greatly appreciated, even if it's just a few pounds! Please carry on reading if you want to know more about why I chose my charities. You can follow my running progress on my Strava page: https://www.strava.com/athletes/3426765 [/p] [p]Young Epilepsy: YE is a charity that supports children and young people with epilepsy. My cousin Laura was born with a rare disease called Dravet syndrome, which means she had severe epilepsy from a very young age, as well as several other complications. YE runs a school especially for children like Laura, as well as children with other neurological difficulties. St Piers look after Laura full-time, and allow her to learn in a way she was never able to at a local school. [/p] [p]RSPCA: I've chosen to run for RSPCA partly because they are a charity I've always supported, but also in memory of my sister's close friend Jolanta Gowing. Jola passed away after only having been diagnosed with leukaemia the day before and this was a massive shock to my sister and everyone who knew Jola. Becky and Jola went to Burghley Horse Trials together every year, and Becky has told me that Jola also used to volunteer for a horse sanctuary. With this in mind I thought the RSPCA would be the perfect charity, as they do so much work for the welfare of all types of horses and other animals. [/p]
