My story

[p]We are fundraising in support of One Parent Families Scotland, a national charity providing emotional, practical and financial support to single parents and their children during the coronavirus crisis and beyond. [/p][p]In keeping with OPFS's call for people to #Take5Give5 for single parent families by challenging themselves to do an activity themed around the 'five ways to wellbeing', we are going to 'Be Active' (too active, if you ask us). [/p][p]We are asking our friends, family and anyone who is interested in seeing us suffer to sponsor us to do the Couch to 5k Challenge. This involves doing three progressively more challenging runs three times per week for nine weeks. [/p][p]That's 27 runs, which is 27 more than either of us is used to. For anyone who doesn't know us, we are not remotely fit. Running is not a thing that we do. So this will genuinely be hard, not least keeping up the motivation to actually do it.[/p][p]But we are determined. To make sure we keep to our word and don't mislead any of our lovely sponsors, we will post a video on Twitter after each run to document our progress/reflect on how close we are to losing the will to live, and will update this page with the links as a sort of diary of our demise. Or, to be more optimistic, our story of success, our fable of fitness, our tale of ... taking things too far. Children in single parent households were already twice as likely to be in poverty before the pandemic, and single parent families have been some of the hardest hit by this crisis. It has really never been important to help fund the support that One Parent Families Scotland provides. [img][/img][/p]
