My story

[p]The 2019 Marathon has become a family affair in the Jackson Ponsonby household. Initially, my older sister Eve was due to run for my Mum's charity of 25 years, Working Families. However, one hip injury later and I received one of the best and worst hand-me-downs you could hope for in the shape of an opportunity to raise money for the wonderful charity Working Families, with the small inconvenience of having to run 26.2 miles in order to do so. [/p][p]Working Families is the UK’s work-life balance organisation. They help working parents and carers—and their employers—find a better balance between responsibilities at home and in the workplace. Changing the way we live and work!![/p][p]Working Families’ Legal Advice Service provides free advice on employment rights to over 2,500 working people per year. It gives parents and carers the understanding that it is possible to balance work and caring for loved ones, and arms them with the knowledge and expertise to make it happen. [/p][p]“Working Families gave me excellent, practical advice and I felt empowered to do something about my situation. I have been able to negotiate with my employer and have been offered a working pattern which means I can come back to work, afford childcare and still spend a decent amount of time with my baby during the week. Without your advice and help I really doubt I would be in this position now.” [/p][p]- Working Families helpline caller [/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p]
