My story

[p]I know I bang on a lot about why Mind is so flipping great – essentially because it helps people who have nowhere else to turn when they’re feeling desperately low, alone, anxious and scared. It provides incredible information when they’re confused and totally bewildered by everything they’re going through or by the medication the doctor has thrust into their hands. And it campaigns, endlessly badgering MPs until they stop and listen and just maybe start to take mental health seriously.  [/p] [p]I also know I’ve done this whole fundraising palaver before – and so this year I thought I’d better up my game. So this it… in May I’m taking on a challenge that scares me witless – a double hit of two back to back weekends of pain (and most likely a lot of sweat and a flock of blisters).  [/p] [p]On the 10[sup]th[/sup] May I’m running the Hackney Half Marathon and then six days later I’m taking on the Mind 3000s - a 50km, 24 hour continuous trek over 3000ft peaks in Snowdonia (this was recently billed as “you know the three peaks… well it’s far, far harder than that” ... eeeek!).[/p] [p]The first will be hard, the second utterly gruelling, and the combination of the two together – horrendous![/p] [p]In working for Mind for over four years, I’ve seen what great work it does – but the charity is totally overwhelmed by the number of people asking for help (for example calls to the infoline have risen by 50% in 2 years). Quite simply it needs funds to help it meet the vast demand. Any pennies you can give to support with this will be so massively appreciated by me and everyone at Mind.[/p] [p][/p] [p]Thank you – it really does mean the world to me.[/p] [p]Camilla x [/p]
