My story

[vmgvideo class="ql-video" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/0MLUNFTST9M?showinfo=0&rel=0&iv_load_policy=3" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="true"][/vmgvideo][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p]"Carly, why on earth are YOU running the London Marathon?" [/p][p]This is a question I have been asked many times by all those who know me- as they know I hardly exercise, let alone run.[/p][p]My answer is always the same: For Niamh.[/p][p]Niamh is the most inspirational little girl whom I had the pleasure of teaching in Reception. She was such a happy little girl, who was cheeky and funny. She loved playing with her friends and always enjoyed story time at the end of the day. Niamh acted just like every other 5 year old - which is what made her super special. [/p][p]Whilst at school, Niamh had a daily battle with a cancer called Neuroblastoma, a battle which she sadly lost in May 2012 at just 5 years old.[/p][p]I was very honoured to know Niamh & then to read a tribute at her funeral. I knew that day that my life had changed forever.[/p][p]Never again would I take the simple things in life for granted. Having now had children of my own, I squeeze my little girls that extra bit tighter each night, and feel so unbelievably fortunate.[/p][p]Niamh's family are utterly amazing and work tirelessly to raise awareness and money for other children's battles against neuroblastoma. They formed a charity called Niamhs Next Step , which I am the proud secretary of. [/p][p]Our aim is to one day find a cure for neuroblastoma so that children can grow up cancer free.[/p][p]This is why I am running the London Marathon- to raise money and awareness for Niamh's Next Step. Money raised from this page will go to Sparks as Niamh's Next Step are working in collaboration with them to fund a vital & much needed neuroblastoma research project at Brunel University , London.[/p][p]Please donate if you can, or just share this story to raise awareness of NNS and the truly amazing Niamh Charlotte Curry .[/p][p]Thank you [/p][p]Carly x[/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p]
