My story

[p]Introducing our first Signwriting Festival: 20-22 September, Pedestal Field, West Wycombe. [/p][p]Supporting traditional skills in a digital age and raising money for the Alexander Devine Children's Hospice - can we beat last year's total of over £10,000![/p][p]Our Signwriting festival is a weekend to celebrate the art of signwriting and hand lettering, with charity auction and activities for children, all within the world’s most beautiful vintage travelling funfair, Carters Steam Fair. [/p][p]All money raised will be going to the Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice.[/p][p]Come and join us for a weekend celebrating the beautiful ancient art of signwriting in the midst of the most dazzling vintage travelling funfair, Carters Steam Fair.[/p][p]For many years the Letterheads collective of signwriters and painters has been meeting up to showcase their work and to share techniques and tricks, stories and advice, and have a great time while they do it. They were originally set up to celebrate and promote the art of hand-painted signs, and to pass down this dying art, during a time when computers and plastic were threatening the trade. Now, thankfully, there is a resurgence in interest in the beauty and skill of this hand-painted work, and there are more and more young signwritersworking across the world. Many of these people will be coming along to the Signwriting Festival at Carters Steam Fair. [/p][p]Carters Steam Fair is entirely hand-painted, from our large rides and fleet of lorries, down to the smallest of components. This year we have decided to hold a public event to celebrate and promote hand-painting, and to give you the opportunity to see professional signwritersand hand-letterers at work and learn more about the craft.[/p][p]There will be a charity auction at 10am on the Sunday, where you will get the opportunity to bag yourself a gorgeous hand-painted sign and raise money for the Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice. Can you help us smash last year’s total of £10,000 for the hospice?[/p][p]Carters Steam Fair will be open from 1pm-11pm on Saturday and 1pm-8pm on Sunday. There will be an Art & Heritage Tour of the fair 11am Saturday morning, and the Charity Auction starts at 10am on Sunday morning.[/p][p]To make your donation simply click the link here, feel free to leave us a message!
