My story

[p]I am running the 2019 London Marathon in loving memory of my Sister in Law Sandra Pemberton.[/p][p]As many of you know, in June this year we sadly lost our beautiful Sandra. She was the most wonderful mum, sister, daughter, aunty and also a best friend to many many people. The loss of Sandra was felt by hundreds. The sudden impact this had on us as a family was, and continues to be, enormous. The grief we feel is extremely hard to cope with and often very frightening. We are experiencing on a daily basis how this affects us all in different ways from Harry losing his mum at such a young age, our four young daughters losing their aunty, a mother and father losing a daughter, and a brother losing his only sibling.[/p][p]I applied for a ballot place in the 2019 London Marathon in April this year, 2 months later Sandra passed away. Then, in October, an application form arrived on my doorstep from Child Bereavement UK offering me the opportunity to apply to run for them. They were the only charity to contact me and offer me an application form, given the nature of their charity and our current family situation I felt that this was fate and that Sandra certainly had a hand in making this happen! So I applied and they called a week later to tell me that they had given me one of their 11 places for 2019.[/p][p]Child Bereavement UK supports families and educates professionals when a baby or child of any age dies or is dying, or when a child is facing bereavement. Every year they train more than 9000 professionals, helping them to better understand and meet the needs of grieving families. I can see how crucial this support and education would be and I feel determined to help make a difference.[/p][p]I am excited and nervous to take on this challenge but I know if I keep Sandra, Harry and my family in my mind throughout then I can do this.[/p][p]All donations will be so gratefully received and I will update this page throughout my journey.[/p][p]Thank you all so much. Much Love, Cat xxx[/p][p][br][/p]
