My story

[p]Hello and thanks for visiting my page.[/p][p]On March 19th 2014 I suffered a fall from a racehorse that resulted in me sustaining a bimalleolar fracture of my right ankle meaning that my both my tibia and fibula were shattered and I had also sustained a dislocated ankle.[/p][p]Due to the nature of the dislocation my foot was so badly bent it was cutting off my circulation and I could not be transported to hospitial without my tibia and fibula being realigned and my foot being manipulated back into my ankle.  I required specialist medical treatment otherwise I could have potentially sustained serious and permanent damage to my leg so Magpas Helimedix were called out to the scene.[/p][p]As a result of my fracture and dislocation I now have 2 plates and 11 screws holding my right ankle together.  In what will be just over a years time since my accident I will attempt to complete the 26.2 miles of the London Marathon in order to raise money for  Magpas: The Emergency Medical Charity.  This charity receives no direct Government or National Lottery funding and relies wholly on generous donations from the public[/p][p]http://www.magpas.org.uk/[/p][p]Magpas has been operating for over 40 years. [/p][p]It supports the Ambulance Service by providing the Magpas Helimedix Air Ambulance and a Magpas specialist medical team, despatched to cases of life-threatening illness or major trauma within the East of England.[/p][p]The charity operates a helicopter and rapid response car, staffed by highly trained Pre-Hospital Doctors and EEAST Paramedics, many of whom volunteer their own time to work with us.[/p][p]Magpas Helimedix are on call to provide extended medical care where it is needed most. The organisation currently operates 18 hours a day, but is working towards a 24/7 service by introducing 24 hour cover two days a week.[/p][p]The charity works closely with EEAST Ambulance Service NHS Trust and Cambridge University Hospital Trust (CUH).[/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
