My story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting my page.[/p][p]Time to say a HUGE thank you to all who have donated so far. I am delighted to have completed the Marathon in 6 hours and 47 minutes, the atmosphere on the day was wonderful.[/p][p]It was a poignant day, as well as remembering Sarah Kendrick, I was remembering Murray Lamden, who had passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Easter Monday. [/p][p]As Brendan Foster mentioned in his Marathon Coverage Murray was "Mr Athletics Isle of Man". All Manx athletes wore a red ribbon and photo in tribute, and I managed to see his sister and brother -in-law , complete with a Manx flag, at the 5 mile mark, where Murray always used to stand in recent years.[/p][p]Thank you for all you have donated to CRY,I know Sarah's family really appreciate all your generosity. CRY will be putting all the money raised to good use, campaigning for screning for all young people, and providing screening and bereavement support amongst other areas.[/p][p]So far the total is way over target, and with some final donations just arriving, I am confident the final amount raised will be over £2500! You are all amazing![/p][p]My friend's niece Sarah died suddenly and unexpectedly with an undiagnosed heart disorder of young people. Sarah's Mum died late last year. She never got over Sarah's death. [/p][p]As a Doctor, and friend, I have seen the devastation caused by the sudden and unexpected death of a child or young adult. Cardiac Risk in the Young promote subsidised easy access to a simple health screen for young people to detect hidden problems and help prevent sudden cardiac death.[/p][p]My own two children have benefitted from this screening.[/p][p]By sponsoring me to finish the London Marathon you can help raise funds for them to offer more screening, and carry out more research into this field.[/p][p]I will be posting updates on training, and I post on Twitter and Facebook too.[/p][p]All sponsorship money goes straight to the charity and I am funding all my training and travel/accomodation costs myself.[/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
