My story

[p]As we draw closer to the day we start our big walk, we thought we would bring you up to date with our training. Slightly overkill on the steepness of slopes, but we have just done a few days walking in the Pyrenees, which were every bit as hot as here. We're so hoping that the hills of Sussex won't feel like the mountains of the Pyrenees and, for Pippin's sake, we're hoping things might cool down just a little! Over the next couple of weeks, we will keep up the walking, mostly along local rivers (again for Pippin's sake) and we will be increasing the mileage over several days. Then it will be a case of packing as minimally as possible and off we go![/p][p]This summer, Cee and Mark, plus Pippin the dog, are planning to walk the 200 mile Sussex Hospices Trail which is a circular walk encompassing both East and West Sussex. We are truly grateful to the Sussex Hospices Volunteers who devised this route and will be raising some funds for our chosen hospice, Martlets Hospice in Hove, which cares for people living through a terminal illness. [/p][p]However, we are hoping to split the funds we raise between this and two other charities close to our hearts. Firstly OCD Action which helps people with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. OCD is a clinically recognised disorder which affects around 1-2% of the population. It is debilitating and paralysing. People with OCD experience intensely negative, repetitive and intrusive thoughts, combined with a chronic feeling of doubt or danger (obsessions). In order to quell the thought or quieten the anxiety, they will often repeat an action, again and again (compulsions). [/p][p]Also to Tommy’s, a charity that funds research into miscarriage and into healthy pregnancies.[/p][p]Thank you so much for any support you can give us to help us cover the miles! [/p]
