My story

[p]This picture was taken a year ago last summer. It captures a great family trip to Spain full of non-stop laughter and enjoyment. Simon, who is pictured next to me second from the right was kind enough to have us all for five days at his holiday home just south of Alicante, and it was one I’ll never forget.[/p][p]What Simon, such a dear friend to our family and like an uncle to me and brother to my dad, was unaware when this picture was taken was that he had already begun to develop pancreatic cancer, what I was unaware when this picture was taken was that this trip would be the last time I would spend with Simon alive and that just six months later he would pass away. [/p][p]Every year 9,600 people are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and Simon’s story shows just how quickly the disease can turn someone’s life on its head and if there is anything it taught me it was that if you want to go and do something that will make a difference, life is too short to hold back. That’s why in 2019 I will be taking on the challenge of running the London Marathon for pancreatic cancer UK in loving memory of our dear friend Simon. [/p][p]26 miles and £2,500 is my target.[/p][p]This is sure to be one of the toughest challenges I have ever had to do as I have never been a long distance runner to say the least, but whenever I feel like throwing in the towel I’ll think of Si and the laughter he used to bring to all of our lives, and I’ll keep going.[/p][p]any contributions that anyone can make will make a huge difference, not just with assisting me with my training, but also to someone else’s life who may be affected by pancreatic cancer. [/p][p]Let’s do this! ????[/p]
