Team story

[p]On Saturday the 1st June 2019, a group from the charity Play Gloucestershire will partner with a team from Nationwide Building Society to walk the Cheltenham's Three Peak Challenge raising funds for Play Gloucestershire – walking 20+ miles and tackling the 3 highest peaks in the County (Cleeve, Crickely and Leckhampton).[/p][p]Our specific aim is to raise funds to provide play nurture support for some of the most vulnerable children in Gloucestershire. Play Gloucestershire supports children in foster care, abandoned, suffering from bereavement, relationship difficulties and other individual needs and are typically 5-16 years old. Play Nurture caters for these children through our qualified Play Ranger team including Rafa and Steve our Play Nurture dogs 😊.[/p][p]Play Gloucestershire focus on being inclusive, healthy, active and fun building strong relationships with the children and the community. We provide both term time and holiday play with 1:1 nurture for children with the highest needs, helping children overcome urban deprivation and rural isolation. Fund raising is continuous to ensure all activities are free to children.[/p][p]In its first 11 years, Play Gloucestershire have held over 100,000 play visits for more than 11,000 children within 88 local urban and rural communities. All the areas and children we serve have high need and are nominated by local councils who fund us including Cheltenham, Gloucester, Stroud, Cirencester, Tewkesbury, Forest of Dean and the Cotswolds.[/p][p]Pip Levett, Dianne Mautterer, Simon Jarvis from Play Gloucestershire and Matthew Arthur, Joe Avarne, Fran Machin, Chris French, Mike Clease and Toby Kewen from Nationwide Building Society and Wendy Flannery (Gloucestershire Police) will be completing the walk. Matthew is also chair and founding trustee of Play Gloucestershire, which was formed in 2007 as part of his lifetime commitment to improve the lives of less advantaged children following the death of his brother in 2002.[/p][p]Every penny we raise will directly support these children with Nationwide providing matched funding support of up to £500. Please help us improve the lives of our most vulnerable children, for whom their Play Ranger provides a real friend and support when they need it most. ❤[/p][p]Please help us make a difference. #thankyou [/p]
