My story

[p]I will be partaking in a volunteering programme in my college, which is partnered with several schools and a parish in Luanda, Kenya. The volunteering will invonvle comitting to working in the shanty town situated near Kisumu and Lake Victoria, in a school for deaf children, orphans, and the street children in the town. I hope to be able to bring hope to these children for the future in building stronger foundations for them through education, as well as strengthening the bond between my own school and the Luanda links. i will be partaking in teaching lessons such as music, spanish, and art in these schools for all ages present - 5 to 18 years. With the help of the parish in Luanda and other volunteers from my school, we aim to form bonds with these children and inspire more students to continue the tradition of volunteering in Luanda in the years to come. This trip is intented to put my priviledge as an African living in Britain to good use; to have a positive effect on the commuity and let them know that there are people who are willing to give their all in helping them grow as a community and as individuals. I hope that the children in particular will be encouraged to use education as a means to take hold of their futures and make a difference in their country. Moreover, spreading the love of Christ will let the people i meet and get to know, know that there are people that care. [/p]
