[p]Pancreatic cancer is a tough one but we're taking it on.[/p][p]It is tough to diagnose, tough to treat, tough to research and tough to survive. 1 in 4 people won't survive a month, 3 in 4 won't survive for a year.[/p][p]For too long this disease has been sidelined. We want to make sure that everyone affected by it gets all the help they need.[/p][p]We are supporting those affected by the disease, investing in ground breaking research, lobbying for greater recognition of pancreatic cancer and being a voice for everyone involved in the fight.[/p][p]Together we are taking on pancreatic cancer.[/p][p]Pancreatic Cancer UK is my chosen charity as it is a charity that is very close to me as back in September 2017 my Dad was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. Dad underwent treatment from September 2017 until the end of November 2019 but early in December 2019 we were given the news that the treatment was no longer having an effect on his tumour. I was due to run The Vitality Big Half on 1st March 2020 but I decided not to run as my Dad had taken a turn for the worse. I’m pleased I stayed with my Dad because on 2nd March 2020 he sadly passed away. [/p][p]Through research undertaken by the charity my Dad was able to receive treatment, help and support. [/p][p]Due to the craziness that is 2020, I have decided to not participate in the Vitality Big Half 2021, as planned, but have decided to take part in the charity's 'Challenge 24' which will see me during November (which is also Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month) run 24 times. This will also help in my training as I will be running a Half Marathon around my village in April, hopefully with a bit of help from my friends and family to keep me going. [/p][p]By pushing myself to do these things and to raise awareness and funds for this charity, hopefully more families will get to spend more time with their loved ones who are sadly diagnosed with this horrible disease. [/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to Pancreatic Cancer UK.[/p][p]Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.[/p][p]I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
