My story

[p]I will be taking on the 2020 London Marathon to raise money for an important charity that is very close to our hearts. I've had asthma since childhood, thankful for me the advancements in research and medication mean that the days of my mum patiently standing on the side line at my junior football matches, waiting to dose me up with ventolin to keep me in the game are a thing of the past! [/p][p]Our youngest son Alex is 2 and has already been diagnosed with asthma. He has been really poorly, in particular over the winter months and has been hospitalised on a number of occasions requiring steroids, multi dosing and ipratropium bromide. Unfortunately, at the moment he is on the maximum treatment possible for his age and has had other complications meaning numerous visits to the asthma specialists and the ENT team at the Norwich and Norfolk Hospital. All of them, including the staff we see at our local surgery have given him amazing care, which is supported by the important research work that Asthma UK undertake. Thankfully, at this moment in time his asthma is well controlled, however, having seen Alex and numerous other kids at hospital struggling, I'm really motivated to raise as much money as possible to support Asthma UK with their ongoing work, to help asthma sufferers to live well and not be hindered in their daily lives.[/p][p]The statistics from Asthma UK state that every 10 seconds someone in the UK has a potentially fatal asthma attack and every single day the lives of three families are devastated by the death of a loved one from asthma. Asthma UK work to stop asthma attacks and to ultimately cure asthma by funding world leading research and scientists, campaigning for change and supporting people with asthma to reduce their risk of a potentially life threatening asthma attack.[/p][p]I would like to thank everybody for all their support and encouragement, it means a lot. I'm looking forward to taking on this challenge and I am extremely grateful for any support you can give. [/p][p]Thank you, [/p][p]Chris [/p][p][br][/p]
