My story

[p]  [/p][p][span=font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;]Hi, thanks for visiting my page.[/span][/p][p][span=font-size: 10pt; font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; color: black;]Over the past 8 years ago, I suffered several serious sporting injuries which resulted in being told five years ago that I would never run again.[/span] [/p][p][span=font-size: 10pt; font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; color: black;]It is somewhat crazy that I am embarking on a challenge that will entail running/walking or cycle the [b]105 miles[/b] rolling hills of the South Downs Way National Trail starting in Winchester and ending in Eastbourne. On 28th June, I will be joining 50 colleagues from Rockspring to complete the South Downs challenge. Those of us cycling will be aiming to complete the challenge on a mountain bike over two days and then join the walkers/runners on the last day for a 25km run/walk.[/span] [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][span=font-size: 10pt; font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; color: black;]Naturally many of you must be thinking I’m crazy to even attempt this. Believe me I have had many doubts but after many visits to consultants, years of boring physio exercises and gym work I resumed running two years ago. I realise how lucky I am and therefore raising money for charities that make a positive difference is a privilege. We are raising money in support of three fantastic charities – Macmillan Cancer Support, PIP and Whizz kids.[/span] [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][span=font-size: 10pt; font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; color: black;]The charity closer to my heart is McMillan Cancer Support whose nurses did a wonderful job supporting a dear close friend, Antoine as he fought a tough battle with cancer last year. Although Antoine fought very hard to live and we unfortunately lost him; the efforts of the McMillan nurses went a long way in helping and comforting his family. The care, support and comfort they provided to him and his family was incredible.  [/span] [/p][p][/p][p][span=font-size: 10pt; font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; color: black;]The hilly off-road terrain is rated difficult so as you can imagine it’s not going to be a walk in the park and in preparation the training has been intense – hopefully my early morning 5-hour weekend rides, lunchtime 5km runs, dangerous bike rides to and from work, painful gym sessions as well as visits to the physio will prove worthwhile.[/span] [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][span=font-size: 10pt; font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; color: black;]So please dig deep in your pockets and donate to support these amazing charities that touch and improve so many lives.[/span] [/p][p][/p][p][span=font-size: 10pt; font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; color: black;]Thank you for your support. Much appreciated![/span] [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
