My story

[p]Recently I have been struggling with my mental health and feel like I need a seemingly insurmountable challenge to focus on. I've been having panic attacks and bouts of anxiety that have been gradually getting worse - So running the Madrid Marathon with 6 weeks of training it is![/p][p]This time last year I never thought I'd run again (not that I actually ran in the first place). After two knee surgeries and a subsequent infection that left my leg looking like a pencil, I didn't think I'd return to my physical prime. Thankfully after a lot of hard work, I have put myself in a position to achieve my new goal - to send the Madrid Marathon.[/p][p]Just a couple of months ago the idea of running a marathon was completely laughable regardless of the injury. As a chronic asthmatic, I had never been able to run 5km without having an asthma attack or two and getting the trusty blue inhaler out to save my wheezy lungs. [/p][p]Until April this year, I'd never run more than 5km. But what gives me the confidence I can complete the marathon? Well, I believe I can complete this daunting 42-kilometre/21-mile task as in May I started training for a different seemingly insurmountable task in which I improved my running acumen greatly, developed some serious mental strength, and ultimately achieved my goal. [/p][p]However, I haven't run since and have given myself only 6 weeks to fully train for the marathon - Just the ridiculous task I need. [/p][p]My fundraising target is £1,200. This total will be split between two causes that I care about deeply:[/p][p]Tibet Relief Fund - I've spent a lot of time with the Tibetan community in exile over the past few years and I know the funds raised for them will not go to waste and will support Tibetans fighting for their freedom. [/p][p]Crisis - Especially in the current context of society, the support of those people experiencing homelessness in the UK is vital. I mean, I don't really need to write anymore, it's clearly a worthy cause.[/p][p]I'd be very appreciative of any donations small or large, have a lovely day! [/p]
