My story

[p]On July 10th -16th I will be embarking on the long journey across the English Channel, armed with only a pair of trunks, goggles and a swimming hat. [/p][p]The 'short' trip to France will be in aid of an OUSTANDING local charity, who fund vital research and clinical staff for patients with debilitating cancers in Leicestershire, Rutland and surround areas. The charity in question is Hope Against Cancer, adequately named in that it provides hope to many patients I currently work alongside, in the clinical trials unit based in excellent Osbourne building, Leicester Royal Infirmary. [/p][p]Hope against cancer has not only provided hope to many over the last decade, it has funded cutting edge clinical research within the University of Leicester, which includes my own current research into improving treatment strategies in patients with aggressive lymphoma using a revolutionary new technique called the liquid biopsy. Working within the hope clinical trials facility has put me in the fortunate position to observe first-hand the vital support Hope Against Cancer charity provides, giving patients the opportunity to enter potentially life extending trials.[/p][p]This challenge has always been a life ambition of mine from a very young age, however my true motivation for this feat is for every person who I have developed relationship with including those who have been treated successfully, or succumb to the disease. This is the reason I am here, and the reason I am ultimately swimming the channel, for them. [/p][p]PLEASE donate generously, and I promise you your donations will not be wasted. I see first-hand, from end to end, where your generousity goes, and from me it goes VERY VERY far. [/p][p]Thank you!![/p][p][br][/p]
