My story

[p]My name is Chris and I'm a student at The Royal National College for the Blind (RNC). I'm 20 years old and was registered blind in 2018. I was a keen cyclist before I lost my sight and regularly competed across the UK and I'm determined to keep up my training, albeit in an adapted format. I usually take to the roads on my tandem bike, with my pilot, Mark Palliser (see picture below) – although my dad stepped into this role during lockdown. I have also been using my static turbo trainer for daily fitness at home in Bedfordshire. [/p][p]I am supported by Jonty Williams from Spot-on Coaching based in Hereford. I train with Jonty when I am at College and he has been supporting me whilst we have been in lockdown.[/p][p]I am focusing on gaining qualification to the Paralympics. My training has been strong and productive during lockdown and I have maintained my level of fitness which I’m pleased about.[/p][p]For the PrudentialRideLondon challenge I'm going for the big one - 100 miles - and will be racing against the clock on my turbo trainer which is linked to Strava and will keep me on track with my timings/distance as well as verify my results for the organisers. [/p][p]I want to give something back to the College which has really helped me rehabilitate and re-learn the skills that I had prior to losing my eyesight. If you could donate to my appeal, no matter how large or small, it will really spur me on and most importantly help support the work of my fantastic College.[/p]
