My story

[p]Thanks for taking the time to visit our page.[/p][p]Once again, Team Cintra will embark on a Cycle Challenge in support for COCO. We will follow in the footsteps of Bill Bryson ( A walk in the Wood ) and attempt to complete the longest continuous footpath in the world, the Appalachian Trail which stretches along the East Coast of the United States, from Georgia to Maine, through some of the most arresting and celebrated landscapes in America - A total of 3167.6 KM. It will be a virtual challenge by biking, running, walking, crawling swimming and whilst obeying to the rules under the Corona-virus and excise scheme .[/p][p]As a result of the COVID 19 pandemic, all of the partner schools that COCO work with have been closed. From nursery to college, children have been sent home, many of whom rely on school for breakfast and lunch. In Songea in Southern Tanzania, children have returned to schools, desperate to come back so that they can be safe and fed. Where home is not an option, teachers are staying at school in shifts to do all they can to support these especially vulnerable children[/p][p]At COCO, they are focusing their efforts on supporting the incredible team of teachers that work across all of their schools for life who are not currently receiving a salary as there are no students to pay fees – The don’t have a safety net such as the UK furlough scheme.[/p][p] Every penny raised will go to support the teacher so they can continue to support the children even under the current circumstance. What could be a worthier cause – so please help?[/p][p]Team Cintra will try over the next 6 weeks try to complete the Appalachian Trail Virtual Challenge by accumulating 3167.6 km as team and hope to raise £ 3167 and 60 Pence and really make a difference in Tanzania and support COCO’s teachers wonderful work[/p][p]The team is:[/p][p]· Gary Eden El Torro[/p][p]· Alastair Green The King of Descent[/p][p]· Geoff Dorward The Gazelle[/p][p]· Antonio Carrubbo El Pistolero[/p][p]· Anthony Clydesdale Ivan The Terrible[/p][p]· Andrew Mckenzie The Mountain Goat[/p][p]· Jess Mcevoy El Galetta[/p][p]· Ian Hornby The Speed King[/p][p]· Lucy Kendal The Babe[/p][p]· Peter Crowe El Diablo[/p][p]· Carsten Staehr The Boss[/p][p] Melanie Pizzey The Peddler of Charm[/p][p][br][/p][p] [/p][p]Donating through Virgin money giving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with Virgin Money Giving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.[/p][p] [/p]
