My story

[p]Connected Voice, a charitable organisation at the heart of Newcastle’s voluntary and community sector, is playing a vital part in the citywide community response to COVID-19. They will be managing the donations and 100% of all donations will go directly to local charities involved in the Citylife Line initiative. Any money leftover will be given to local charities working to support future hardship in the city[/p][p]Citylife Line was set up specifically to help the most vulnerable residents in Newcastle-upon-Tyne access the provisions and get the support they need as self-isolation and social distancing prevented them from leaving their homes.[/p][p]Those most susceptible to COVID-19 who have to shield from the virus, as well as those who have been plunged into poverty or are without support networks to deliver provisions to them, are in need of assistance.[/p][p]Since its launch at the end of March, almost 1500 people have contacted the service to let Newcastle City Council’s call handlers know they are in need of help.[/p][p]Citylife Line has made sure those most at risk are given the food and supplies required. It has also allocated requests from other residents to voluntary and community sector organisations to coordinate the support to where it is directly needed.[/p][p]Newcastle City Council has been purchasing food and supplies in order to meet requirements, and continues to do so but others in a position to help can also now contribute to this effort.[/p][p]You can find out more about Citylife Line at www.newcastle.gov.uk/citylifeline[/p][p]Connected Voice is a registered charity (1125877) and company limited by guarantee (6681475). Registered in England and Wales.[/p]
