My story

[p]April 2017[/p][p]Wow![/p][p]I've hit my target and I'm totally chuffed to bits to be surrounded by so many wonderful and generous people. I've been feeling a touch emotional and am starting to get a wee bit nervous...... [/p][p]Only 2 more sleeps and I'm there. [/p][p]Thank you all tonnes and heaps and tonnes! [/p][p]Xxxx[/p][p]March 2017[/p][p]So, it's been quite a few weeks now since my 40th birthday and I have come to realise the error of my ways!! Training in the cold, wet and dark has been challenging. Choosing to run a marathon when I am living away from my own home (we are living with my in-laws whilst we have some work done), with a full time job, having taken on the head of chemistry role and whilst trying to be a half decent mummy has not been without its challenges..... Never before have I run in the snow, whilst wearing a hat, in the driving rain (needles of freezing rain to the eyes - not fun), in gloves...... I am certainly getting fitter - yesterday I managed to walk up some stairs without wincing...... But I am still exceedingly slow. But it's a marathon, not a sprint as I keep telling Ben.....[/p][p]Please, please sponsor me. If you are not sure whether to part with your cash or not, here are some reasons to hand it over:[/p][p][/p][ul][li]I now have no free time for fun - I have to do my marking or run. Them's the options.[/li][li]I gave up biscuits for February. Even though they are pretty much unlimited at work. And they have jaffa cakes....[/li][li]I am not a natural runner. In fact I'm rubbish. I take no joy in this.[/li][li]After my 12 miles on Sunday I had to get Ben to take my trainers off as I was worried I might fall over if I bent down myself.[/li][li]On Sunday I was really wet and really cold. And I live on a hill. And that means that I had to run back up it to get home to the warm and dry.[/li][li]If you don't sponsor me then I'll have to spend all my marking money on this race. Marking is hard work.[/li][li]I'm going to have to give up booze as well as jaffa cakes. That's two of my favourite things right there.[/li][li]It'll make me smile. I like smiling. Almost as much as I like snow and kittens. And that's quite a lot.[/li][/ul][p][/p][p]January 2017[/p][p]I always said that I would like to run a marathon when I was 40, and now I will be in a matter of days, so please help me to achieve my goal.[/p][p]I have chosen to raise money for the Ectopic pregnancy trust. In 2009, I had an ectopic pregnancy. It was my first pregnancy and I was frightened and upset by the experience. Through the EPT website, I found guidance and support. The forums offered me hope and helped me to realise that I wasn't alone. I was lucky enough to quickly fall pregnant the following year with my lovely Maia, but I will never forget how grateful I was for the support of the EPT.[/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to the EPT. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.[/p][p]I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p][p]Wish me luck! I'm going to need it!.......[/p]
