Team story

[p]Update - donations are now closed[/p][p]Thank you for all your support, we have raised over Β£1600 which will be split between my local hospital's Breast Care Unit and Cancer Research - you can read about our 1st February celebration in my Aimetu's blog - http://aimetus.blogspot.com/2020/02/yeah-we-made-it.html[/p][p]Chemotherapy is not easy, I seem to be living in a different world, everything takes ages, I'm so tired! After each treatment the side effects seem to last longer and I certainly feel weaker. [/p][p]I have just had my fourth treatment of the first two drugs, after this I will have four more treatments of two different drugs and later in the summer another operation. [/p][p]It seems a very long road, there are certainly some very dark days. Last treatment I did not have the strength to even get around our home, I had five days in my pjs on the sofa and it was nine days before I went out, however my latest scan did show that the treatment is working.[/p][p]We have been overwhelmed by your kindness and support with our Dry January, I have enjoyed a couple of Gin and Tonics and a glass or two of wine but not many as my taste buds are not great.[/p][p]Our donation page will be closing on Mother's Day and all monies will be sent to our two charities - again thank you so much, it helps to know others will be helped, something good has to come from this 😘[/p][p]Original post:[/p][p]On 6th December 2019, Clare (Mumma H, Aimetu, Mrs. Hearnden) was diagnosed with breast cancer. Since then, as a family, we have been standing by Clare as the multiple tests, scans, appointments and needles have been thrown her way - all while tackling her severe needle phobia. [/p][p]Through it all, Clare has been an absolute solider and is now facing six months worth of chemo before a final operation to kick cancer to the curb. [/p][p]Since diagnosis, George Eliot Hospital Breast Cancer Unit have been amazing, giving Clare support with not only the terrible news of having breast cancer, but supporting her through numerous scans and test with her needle phobia at each appointment. [/p][p]To give back and show cancer who's boss, as a Mother and Daughter team, we're looking to help George Eliot Hospital raise money for their Breast Care Unit, who are desperately looking to expand their department to be able to support and care for the many women effected by breast cancer. [/p][p]Cancer treatment has changed so much over the years, with less invasive treatment plans now in place for many patients - this is all possible thanks to Cancer Research and their work to develop the cure for this awful disease that effects so many. [/p][p]To raise money for both these causes, Clare and Philippa will be ditching all gin, wine, vodka, champagne...for the length of January 2020 and during Clare's first month of chemo. [/p][p]Help us say thanks and tackle cancer one step at a time by donating below, [/p][p]As a mother and daughter, we're so grateful for all the support, kind wishes and donations.[/p][p]Bring on February 2020! Champagne's in the fridge ready![/p][p]Thank you[/p][p]Clare & Philippa x x [/p][p][br][/p][p]UPDATE - 7th January [/p][p]Yesterday was my first Chemotherapy (I hid the medical stuff on the photo πŸ˜‰) .... so far so good. Philippa and I have stayed 'dry' since 00.01 New Year's Day. I'm really enjoying Ceder's non-gin! [/p][p]Thank you all so much ... it was such a boost when our target was passed during my treatment - your support is really really appreciated. [/p][p]We're continuing our Challenge with the hope that we can double the target so both charities receive Β£1000. Focusing on this is certainly helping me along this tricky road, thank you 😘[/p][p]Sofa day for me now....... Clare x[/p][p][br][/p][p]Update 27th January[/p][p]Chemotherapy round two was not a pleasant day, I really could have done with a large glass of wine! [/p][p]Three needles to get a canula in 😡😡😩[/p][p]Unfortunately it stopped working half way through my treatment 😲[/p][p]Two needles to get new canula in my other hand 😡😩[/p][p]Five needles today, I was only ready for one πŸ˜ͺ[/p][p]All the nurses are amazing, so busy with checking and cross checking the drugs for all the patients and responding to the constant bleeps of the drips, such a dedicated job.[/p][p]Special thanks to my Hubby, it was not an easy day![/p][p]Philippa and I have been overwhelmed with your support, thank you. We are both looking forward to our champagne on 1st Feb, I hope my chemotherapy tastebuds enjoy it too .... Clare x[/p]
