My story

[p]I have now walked the London Marathon route in stages - unbelievable but I've done it !![/p][p]I have always wanted to do the marathon but I know with my MS it is too much for me as fatigue is my main symptom making training and build up impossible, but instead of giving up on my dream challenge I did it in stages. [/p][p]I have kept a blog from start to finish, you can read about my journey on my blog http://clareschallenge50.blogspot.co.uk/[/p][p]I am so greatful to my Hubby Nick for his amazing support in agreeing to and walking this with me. Without his arm to steady me and his patience with my slowness, especially on stairs I would not have been able to complete any of the stages so far.[/p][p]Route 8 was an extra special as our son, his girlfriend, and our daughter walked the route with us. Not only was it a year since I announced my Challenge but it was my 51st birthday which made it a very special day indeed. Three of our friends came too so we were quite a little group walking from Tower Hill to The Mall.[/p][p]I was overwhelmed to receive a good luck video with messages from some of the Welsh Rugby players and from my favourite team Leicester Tigers. I have been even more overwhelmed that Tigers have now featured me on their web site. You can read the article here - thank you Tigers I'm looking forward to being at the match on Nov 20th.  [/p][p]Although this is a personal challenge I've used the opportunity to raise some money for four charities:[/p][p]MS Society  -  Pancreatic Cancer UK  -  Diabetes UK  -  The British Paralympic Association[/p][p]Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. [/p][p] I have been very touched by all the support, huge thank you for your kind donations. I am delighted to have reached over my £1000 target with the total now at £1330.50 - thank you [/p]
