My story

[p]There's a much increased awareness about cancer, but nothing quite prepares you for hearing those words, when it's you or someone you love and Clem was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in July 2017.[/p][p]The NHS have been Amazing, with treatment starting pretty much immediately. Chemotherapy was, in short, awful. This was followed by radiotherapy that was also very tough, and continued with hormone therapy and participation in an ongoing clinical trial. [/p][p]Most men with early stage prostate cancer don't display any signs or symptoms. However there are some things that mean you are more likely to get prostate cancer, if:[/p][p]- you are aged 50 or over[/p][p]- your father or brother has had prostate cancer[/p][p]- you are Afro-Caribbean [/p][p]You can read more here about what to look for: [/p][p]https://prostatecanceruk.org/prostate-information/about-prostate-cancer/prostate-cancer-symptoms[/p][p]With a very high PSA when originally diagnosed, we are eternally thankful to God and all the NHS staff that have cared for Clem. His PSA has now come down by over 2000% to 0.11! [/p][p]To celebrate, Clem will be raising money to help fund more vital research into Prostate Cancer and he is raising money for the charity, Prostate Cancer Research Centre. The charity's goals are to stop prostate cancer being a killer. They fund groundbreaking research, drive improvements in treatment, and fight injustice in care. [/p][p]Clem's passion has always been flying and all things electronic and gaming. Recently he has built a flight simulator from scratch, which now encompasses some 11 screens consisting of monitors, laptops, iPads and phones! [/p][p]On Saturday 25th May 2019 Clem will be flying on the simulator for 24 hours straight from London Gatwick, UK to Sydney, Australia in a Boeing 737 jet. This is a mammoth challenge! He'll be stopping off at various points to refuel along the way. [/p][p]You can follow Clem's flight training and preparation for the big event on his vlog. More details to follow.[/p][p]Please support Clem and help him raise money for this valuable cause, which as a family is very close to our hearts. [/p][p]Thank you. [/p][p]With love, [/p][p]Clem, June, Rebecca, Joanna, James and Ashana x[/p][p]UPDATE.....[/p][p]Facebook Group for Supporters now live, if you have not received your invite then please send me a message and I will add you to the Group.[/p]
