My story

[p]I started running in 2016 after the death of my step father to lung cancer. I ran 5k 3 times a week for most of the year, which became less frequent through 2017. In 2018 my Sister-in-Law, Jo Pearce, won a ballot place in the London Marathon and my family and I went to support her on the day. I was awed with the runners and supporters, there was such an amazing atmosphere. Seeing all the runners taking part I was inspired and decided I would love to take part, my enthusiasm for running was back. I have since taken part in several fun runs for charity and am eagerly awaiting others.[/p][p]I am supporting The Wight Brainy Bunch as I have both friends and family effected by brain tumours. I was shocked when I realised I know of 4 people who have been effected by brain tumours, plus other people my wife works with. She is a special needs teacher at the Isle of Wight College.[/p][p]The Wight Brainy Bunch supports travel to Southampton General Hospital for brain tumour patients. I have had personal experience of the journey from the Island to Southampton General, as my youngest daughter was born with hip dysplasia (DDH). We had many trips to Southampton General Hospital. Weekly check ups, operations and treatments for the first 3 years of her life. Now she has yearly check ups until she’s 18. I fully understand the difficulties and costs faced by patients and families travelling to and from Southampton for treatment. [/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p]
