Team story

[p]Thank you for visiting our page. [/p][p]Why MND?[/p][p]In December 2014 my wife and Will's Mum Kate lost her inevitable fight to MND at the age of 50. Currently there is no prevention, no treatment and no cure.[/p][p]MND can affect any of us at any time of life. It robs us of our physical mobility, our ability to communicate and forces ourselves to be dependent upon others. In essence it robs us of our identity whilst we're forced to surrender ourselves to its effects. We need to find a cure.[/p][p]For those of you who knew Kate doing nothing & just getting on with our lives was not an option . As we were not cyclists the inescapable logic of forming CycleForKate and 9 friends & family cycling 800 miles from Calais to Perpignan in the heat of July 2015 turned out to be another life changing moment - but a good one. [/p][p]In 2018 a new team was established and the cycling adventure from Caen to Cannes with a detour up the mighty Mont Ventoux was successfully completed.[/p][p]The team fully acknowledge that long distance cycling is not for everyone so a more inclusive annual event was required. Tour des Silos is now firmly established to continue to build on our fantastic fundraising total for the MNDA [/p][p]Now preparing for our fourth year this will be held on Sunday 2nd June 2019. This one day cycle event is in place bringing friends, family and the world of rugby, food & farming together for a fully catered sportive & enjoyable day out.[/p][p]Starting and finishing at Winchester RFC there will be a choice of four cycle routes depending upon ability, fitness or ambition.[/p][p]Route 1: WRFC to Trinity Grain (Micheldever) & return (24 miles)[/p][p]Route 2: WRFC to Trinity Grain (Micheldever) to Openfield (Andover) & return ( 48 miles)[/p][p]Route 3: WRFC to Trinity Grain (Micheldever) to Trinity Grain (Shrewton) & return. (78 miles)[/p][p]Route 4: WRFC to Trinity Grain (Micheldever) to Trinity Grain (Membury) to Trinity Grain (Shrewton) & return (107 miles)[/p][p]Riders have donated to take part and many will be raising further sponsorship themselves. [/p][p]We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
