My story

[p]Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a genetic condition which affects more than 10,500 people across the UK. The inherited condition affects the gene which controls the movement of salt and water in and out of cells resulting in a number of life-limiting symptoms for patients. [/p][p]Cystic Fibrosis causes a sticky mucus to build up in the lungs and digestive system which can cause difficulties breathing and increase the risk of lung infections. Mucus also clogs the pancreas which prevents enzymes reaching food in the gut to aid digestion. This means that most people with Cystic Fibrosis struggle to absorb nutrients from food and risk malnutrition.[/p][p]Other symptoms of CF include recurring chest infections; wheezing; bronchiectasis; difficulty putting on weight; jaundice; infertility; diarrhoea and constipation. [/p][p]While there is no cure for CF, it is vital that people with CF receive thorough treatment. Medication, physiotherapy, nutrition and exercise all play their part in enabling patients to live a longer, healthier life. [/p][p]The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the only UK charity committed to working towards a brighter future for everyone with CF by funding cutting-edge research, driving up standards of care and supporting people with the condition. The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is completely unfunded by the government so it solely relies on public donations and sponsors to support their boundless work. [/p][p]Here at Kinetic, we hold the work implemented by the Cystic Fibrosis Trust close to our hearts with a member of our team connected to someone who is affected by the condition. [/p][p]In order to help shape a new future for those born with CF, we are hosting a charity coffee morning in our office on Friday 13 September at 11:00am. [/p][p]Everybody is welcome to attend the coffee morning and together, we can help the fight for a future where everyone born with CF can live a long, healthy life, and take control of their destiny[b].
