My story

[p]Thank you for visiting our page![/p][p]To celebrate the Games DLA Piper Litigation team has decided to take on the Gold Challenge and complete at least 2012km as a team to help raise money for Alzheimer's Society, all in time for the start of the Olympic Games. [/p][p][span=text-decoration: underline;]The Challenge[/span][/p][p]We are planning to walk, run, cycle, swim, row, and horse-ride in order to cover this distance and it is not going to be easy![/p][p]We've got lots planned over the 3 months with individuals taking on tough personal challenges as follows:[/p][ul][li]Jo Haigh, Jenny McIntyre, Helen Fletcher, Kate Oldroyd and Nick Mitchell will be tackling the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge on 29 July - a gruelling 26 mile trek taking in Penyghent, Whernside and Ingleborough each over 2000 feet high;[/li][li]Dominic Higham will be rowing 331 miles from Ilkley to Trafalgar Square by river and canal - equivalent to a Boat Race a day for 80 days;*[/li][li]Julie Cohen will be walking to Hull and back;*[/li][li]Andrew Horton will be golfing and walking to Royal Lytham & St Annes for the Open;*[/li][li]Adam Ibrahim will be cross-training from Sheffield to Leeds;*[/li][li]David Young will be cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats;*[/li][li]Roger McCourt will be quadrathlon-ing from the Leeds office to the Olympic Park;*[/li][li]Eloise Kaye will be swimming the English Channel;*[/li][li]Kathryn Ford will be running the length of Hadrian's Wall and back;*[/li][li]The whole team will be walking a half marathon on 14 June.[/li][/ul][p](*an equivalent distance)[/p][p]We will be adding photographs of us in action as we go, so keep checking back - we're happy to take donations in return for embarrassing sportswear photos![/p][p][span=text-decoration: underline;]The Charity[/span][/p][p]Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading care and research charity for people with dementia and those who care for them. There are currently 750,000 people with dementia in the UK. Alzheimer's Society works to improve the quality of life of people affected by dementia in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. So Alzheimer's Society could receive £250 for every £1,000 donated with no extra expense.[/p][p]For donations to be eligible for Gift Aid, the donor needs to be a UK taxpayer and have paid an equal amount in income/capital gains tax.[/p][p]So please support us in our journey to Gold! [/p]
