[p]As part of the Dash at Home challenge my 11yr old son, Ben, has taken on the challenge to cover the 300km distance from London to Paris in just 7 days. He has completed 42km per day this week, taking in some major Kent hills including Bailey's and Ide Hill to name a few. Over the course of completing the distance he as covered over 10,000ft of vertical ascent! [/p][p]He started this having only done the odd 10mile ride but has tackled the challenge with such determination and commitment focused on making a difference to Chasing Connors Cure and Duchenne UK's fight against the condition.[/p][p]If you are able to provide a donation it would mean a great deal to him and more importantly to his close friend Connor and other boys like him.[/p][p]More about Duchenne:[/p][p]Two families a week in the UK are told that their child has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), a devastating muscle wasting disease that mainly affects boys.[/p][p] DMD is a desperately cruel disease. It's the most common genetic killer of children worldwide. Children will be totally paralysed by their teens and many won't live beyond their 20s. [/p][p]There is no treatment or cure. But thanks to recent breakthroughs, and with your help, we believe we can save them.[/p][p]Duchenne UK are an ambitious and highly focused charity, investing millions of pounds in research right now to bring treatments and a cure and to help this generation.[/p][p]Please help us to END DUCHENNE.[/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to Duchenne UK. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
