Team story

[lt]p style="margin: 0.833em 0px; padding: 0px; font-size: 13px; line-height: 15px;"[gt]The four of us, Hal, Jack, Will and Henry, are participating in the Devizes to Westminister (DW) International Canoe race this year, [lt]span[gt]over the Easter weekend, [lt]/span[gt]in a pair of double kayaks. This race is dubbed the 'Canoeist's Everest' and we will be paddling 125 miles (200km) over four days, with 77 portages along the way, and will spend a total of around 24 hours on the water. We will camp and cook for ourselves each night. [/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0.833em 0px; padding: 0px; font-size: 13px; line-height: 15px;"[gt]Although we will be doing the hard work, we should also acknowledge the generous support we have had from Schroders, Eton College, our parents (aka support teams) and David Ford our long suffering coach.[/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0.833em 0px; padding: 0px; font-size: 13px; line-height: 15px;"[gt]Each of us feels incredibly lucky to attend our school and, now that we are starting to consider the next chapter of our lives beyond A-levels, our very much aware of those that do not have the same opportunities. We are therefore supporting two charities, one that provides schooling to severely autistic children and another that helps young people who have been in care cope with the transition into working life. [/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0.833em 0px; padding: 0px; font-size: 13px; line-height: 15px;"[gt]We would be incredibly grateful if you felt able to support our efforts in fundraising for these two excellent causes. [/p] [lt]p style="margin: 0.833em 0px; padding: 0px; font-size: 13px; line-height: 15px;"[gt]This page is raising money for Drive Forward Foundation (DFF), who are at the heart of the youth unemployment problem in London and provide training and advice to some of the 5000 care leavers who enter the job market in London each year, without the support of family. DFF provide training courses and advice to prepare these young people for the working world and how to deal with other issues affecting their lives. They have a 70% success rate in finding further education and employment for care leavers, which is 3 times more effective than similar government run programs, due to the tailored courses, mentorship and training applicants receive. This all serves to reduce the benefits burden, reduce anti-social behaviour and promote better cohesion in society. It is therefore important that DFF achieves appropriate funding levels to continue this good work and to expand their reach to other London boroughs and care leavers. [/p][lt]p style="margin: 0.833em 0px; padding: 0px; font-size: 13px; line-height: 15px;"[gt]Please see the link on the left for further information.[/p]
