[p]?Days 3 & 4[/p][p]?We did it! After doing the longest day of the Tour today we managed to complete the route. An amazing impromptu night was had in Llanymynech where Rhos Llanerchygog choir sang Welsh hymns and arias for a few hours, which kept us entertained and even did a collection for us raising £120! We are so grateful to you all for your generosity. We will thank you all individually! [/p][p][br][/p][p]Dan and Rob [/p][p][br][/p][p]Day 1 & 2[/p][p]We've made it to the end of day 2! It's been a really fun and challenging two days with many tough climbs and favourable weather so far. Peter, our support driver (and Race Director!) has been following us and setting up feed stations for us along the way as well as providing great entertainment! We managed to conquer the Bwlch Y Groes climb near Bala; something we couldn't do last time around! More importantly, we've hit our fundraising target and this gave us a massive boost today when we needed it most going into the mountains of Snowdonia! Thank you so much for your support! We'll get round to thanking you all individually soon.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Dan and Rob [/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p]Tracking link: https://www.wahooligan.com/users/live/E8L8jF0Mp_H69rsl0gZxlQ[/p][p][br][/p][p]Here we go! [/p][p][br][/p][p]READY TO GO![/p][p]On Thursday we will be departing The Wallich HQ in Cardiff at 7:30 to begin the Tour of Wales! We're really excited to get going! We will send out a GPS tracking link tomorrow so that you can keep track of where we're at each day. Thank you for your donations, we really appreciate your support and we will post daily updates on this page on our progress.[/p][p][br][/p][p]UPDATE[/p][p]Due to a knee injury that Rob has picked up having come off his bike recently, it's on the doctor's orders that the tour will be delayed until July 11-14 to allow for Rob to fully recover.[/p][p]The good news is that we put in a massive block of training over the Winter and have built the strength and stamina to do the tour, so the next few weeks will about maintaining that fitness, even if that's off the bike for Rob! Apologies about the delay and here's to third time lucky!!! [/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p]UPDATE[/p][p]The date is set for the Tour of Wales, May 2 - 5. Here's to a long, cold winter of training! [/p][p][br][/p][p]UPDATE[/p][p]Unfortunately we've had to postpone the tour due to a bug that I (Dan) picked up. Despite feeling better today (Thursday) I still woke up feeling like I've already cycled 448 miles in 4 days! This is the last thing that I wanted to do and gave myself until the last minute to get better but I knew I wasn't healthy enough to see this tour through.[/p][p]Apologies about this, I am absolutely gutted and thank you so much for the support that you've given us to date. [/p][p]We'll be in contact once we've set the new dates to do the tour... this time feeling healthier and we'll hit it even harder![/p][p]Dan and Rob[/p][p][br][/p][p]Rob and I are fundraising for two great charities; The Wallich and 2 Wish Upon a Star.[/p][p]The Wallich's mission is to prevent homelessness in Wales and 2 Wish Upon a Star support suddenly bereaved parents. These two charities provide fantastic services to the community and we would like to fundraise as much as possible to support them.[/p][p]Our challenge is to cycle a loop of Wales, covering 448 miles over 4 days. We will be visiting key support centres that the two charities have across Wales along the way. [/p][p]Day 1 (9th August, 116 miles, 7374 ft climbing)[/p][p]Cardiff - Bridgend - Tycroes - Aberystwyth[/p][p]Day 2 (10th August, 108 miles, 10317 ft climbing)[/p][p]Aberystwyth - Anglesey[/p][p]Day 3 (11th August, 100 miles, 7421 ft climbing)[/p][p]Anglesey - Rhyl - Wrexham - Oswestry[/p][p]Day 4 (12th August, 127 miles, 7892 ft climbing)[/p][p]Oswestry - Newtown - Merthyr - Llantrisant - Cardiff[/p][p][br][/p][p]Last year we cycled 388 miles in 3 days, visiting every Welsh Premier League stadium in Wales. That was an amazing (but extremely painful!) experience seeing the best of the Wales and we can't wait to push ourselves further. We have planned a detour to tackle a VERY long and tough climb near Bala called Bwlch-y-Groes on day 2.[/p][p]We have a number of people interested in joining our route on the last day as part of their own fundraising efforts. If you would be interested in cycling 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 or even the full 123 miles on the final day, please let us know.[/p][p]We will send out a GPS tracking link at the start of each day of the tour so that you can check our progress... should you wish![/p][p]Thanks in advance for your support, it is much appreciated and will motivate us to train (even) harder.[/p][p]Dan & Rob[/p][p][br][/p]
