[lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt]Hello and thank you for making the time to visit my fundraising page.[/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; min-height: 13px;"[gt][/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt]About Kith and Kids[/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt]I’m raising money for Kith and Kids, a charitable organisation that empowers and supports young people with a learning disability or autism, and their families. They run regular projects, clubs and services providing their members with the opportunity to develop their social skills, take part in new experiences, and above all have fun in a safe, welcoming environment. [/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; min-height: 13px;"[gt][/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt]I’ve been volunteering with Kith and Kids for over a year now, taking part in workshops, outings, and - oh yes - even the choir. There is a real sense of community at Kith and Kids and our activities always put our members first. I’ve met some of the most caring and creative people in the short time i’ve been involved, and i’m always completely enthralled by the positivity and enthusiasm of both Kith and Kids’ staff and my co-volunteers.[/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; min-height: 13px;"[gt][/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt]I wrote something of a [span=color: #551a8b;]blog post[/span] about our activities and you can also find out more about this wonderful charity on their [span=color: #551a8b;]website[/span].[/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; min-height: 13px;"[gt][/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt]The Challenges[/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt]I completed my first Ultra Challenge last year, walking from London to Cambridge in just under 32 hours. I’ve got an appetite for it now and i’m hoping to go one better this year by completing not one, but two, Ultra Challenges. [/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; min-height: 13px;"[gt][/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt][span=font-family: Helvetica;]Firstly, on May 28th i’m walking the [lt]span style="color: #551a8b;"[gt]London to Brighton 100km Ultra Challenge[/span]. Starting in Richmond following the River Thames out to the North Downs, then up and over the South Downs towards the coast, this challenge is supposed to be much tougher than my last with lots of elevations. [lt]/span[gt][/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt][/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt][/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt][span=color: #ff0000;]UPDATE: I successfully completed the London to Brighton challenge in a painful 30hrs 49mins and 03secs[/span][/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; min-height: 13px;"[gt][/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt]Secondly on August 27th i’m doing the [span=color: #551a8b;]South Coast 100km Ultra Challenge[/span], trekking from Eastbourne to Arundel, again up and over the South Downs. This route is more off road than the others and promises stunning views.[/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; min-height: 13px;"[gt][/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt]As before, there will be rest stops every 12.5km, with major rest stops around 25, 50 and 75km and a hot meal at half way. There’s no time to sleep though and i’ll be aiming to beat my previous time on both challenges.[/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt][/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt]How You Can Help[/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt]Please do give generously as Kith and Kids rely on their supporters to continue to provide their fantastic services year in year out. As a volunteer, I know any donations raised will go a long way to making a real difference in the lives of some truly wonderful young people.[/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; min-height: 13px;"[gt][/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt]As i'm doing two challenges this year, i'm aiming to double my previous target, and raising this amount specifically could give at least three young people the opportunity to attend one of our week-long social development projects. Every little helps though and other uses for your donation could, for example, include art supplies, outings, and telephone support for member's families.[/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; min-height: 13px;"[gt][/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt]Full disclosure: I have self-funded my place on both challenges so all donations received will go to Kith and Kids (minus Virgin's transaction fees)[/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; min-height: 13px;"[gt][/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt]Remember you can also Gift Aid your donation so that Kith and Kids can claim an extra 25p against every £1 donated.[/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; min-height: 13px;"[gt][/p][lt]p style="margin: 0px; font-size: 11px; line-height: normal; font-family: Helvetica; -webkit-text-stroke-color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;"[gt]Aside from donations, your time is very valuable and Kith and Kids are always looking for new volunteers. We have several training days coming up for the Spring project at the end of March so please [span=color: #551a8b;]get in touch[/span] with the projects team if you are interested in finding out more about volunteering opportunities.[/p]
