My story

[p]Thank you for visiting my page.[/p][p]On 13th April 2014, I ran the London Marathon in 4 hours 19 minutes and 4 seconds. It ended up quite hot, but I managed to shave 11 minutes and 55 seconds off my 2013 time.[/p][p]Why did I decide to run the marathon for a second time?[/p][p]From 2004 to 2011 I travelled all over the world and experienced a variety of cultures, witnessing all kinds of living conditions and levels of poverty. So, when I start worrying about "the small stuff", I try to remember the things I've seen and the people I've met and remind myself how lucky I am. Getting up in the morning to go for a 26.2 mile run is a small price to pay to help a child improve their quality of life.[/p][p]Children In Crisis work in partnership with local [span=margin: 0px; padding: 0px;]organisations[/span] to provide educational opportunities for some of the world’s most vulnerable children.[/p][p]In Africa and Asia they support local [span=margin: 0px; padding: 0px;]organisations[/span] to develop education [span=margin: 0px; padding: 0px;]programmes[/span] for children and their communities. This includes training teachers, building and equipping schools, delivering community education and adult literacy [span=margin: 0px; padding: 0px;]programmes[/span] and improving child protection - knowledge is power and an educated community is more likely to support the education of their children.[/p][p]A child doesn't choose to be born into their circumstances and there a millions of children living in abject poverty without the chance of education or the hope to improve their society. Please help Children In Crisis get children out of crisis. [/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to Children In Crisis. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. [/p]
