My story

[p] Guide dog to lead blind master to the height of Everest [/p][p]No guide dog has ever climbed Everest, but Jimbo is going to give it a go! [/p][p]He will lead his totally blind master David Adams from sea level to the 29,032 ft (8848.86 m) height of Everest to raise funds for European Guide Dogs, Motor Neurone Disease Association and Warwickshire Vision Support. [/p][p]Jimbo and David will climb Marston Hill 197 times over the next few months.[/p][p]On Monday 1st March, St. David’s Day, Jimbo and David made their first climb and will continue every day (twice on Saturdays and Sundays) until August 8th, David’s 78th birthday – a distance equivalent to nearly seven full marathons![/p][p]David said, “If my knees hold out, I look forward to this challenge. Having been in Covid lockdown for most of the last year, I’m looking forward to a bit of fresh air and to lose some weight along the way”.[/p][p]Jimbo said, “Woof Woof”,[/p][p]Priors Marston sits on the Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire borders and is a watershed with streams running into the Thames, The Wash and the Severn estuary. Marston Hill has a steep gradient of 14% and David and Jimbo are tackling the North West slope..[/p][p]43 days on - Jimbo and David have ascended 8340ft, more the height of Ben Nevis. They have also covered the length of nearly 2 marathons - 77 km! Just 118 days left to go...[/p][p]UPDATE 4th May 2021[/p][p]65 days on, Jimbo and David have made 78 trips, ascended 11,828ft, higher than Aneto - the highest peak in the Pyrenees. They have walked 110 km, so just a few more trips to achieve 3 full marathons! With nearly £3,000 raised they have just 95 days to hit their target. Thank you to all who have supported them - David's knees are still holding out, so far so good![/p]
