My story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting my page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[lt]br /[gt][lt]br /[gt]Wiggle your big toe…[lt]br /[gt][lt]br /[gt]...hold that thought.[lt]br /[gt][lt]br /[gt]Just over a year ago on 23rd of June ’15, I fell seriously ill with meningitis, and started a journey to survive and get better – super better! Fighting off septicemia, severe blood loss x2 transfusions, erratic heart beat and possible amputation of at least my right leg, I said to one doctor, ‘If I can wiggle my big toe can I keep my leg?’ So every day when she appeared I’d wiggle my big toe. After three weeks in hospital, I couldn't move my legs to walk and I couldn’t sit up without feeling sick. To overcome this, I endured 9 hours a day of sitting just to fly home. I had three more weeks in hospital and further after-care when I finally got home. During that time I had fantastic support from my family [Daniel my son], friends and colleagues – you all helped get me through this experience. That journey starts with one small step.[lt]br /[gt][lt]br /[gt]Now please wiggle your big toe.[lt]br /[gt][lt]br /[gt]I returned to work in September last year and have been getting better each day, week and month. Now it's time to live life and grab every opportunity that comes along. So ‘big toe' first treking to Everest Base Camp.[/p][p]Thank you everyone.[/p][p]Especially to all the Doctors, Nurses, my GP and the Mounts medical centre Nurses and staff.[/p][p][/p]
